Le Foyer - Artist Camp in St-Adrien

Le Foyer - Artist Camp in St-Adrien

From September 18th to 20th, I had the privilege to assist the 3rd edition of Le Foyer. During these three days, I was matched with talent from all over Québec to create some of the most intricate jams I was ever part of.

I constantly hear how making music full time has to be the dream. In my experience as a self-produced artist, it is not so clear cut. What I mean by that is it's not complete without the people. This is why I endlessly love artist camps - they feel complete to me. There is connection, creativity, new environments, experiences and challenges. This is why Le Foyer was nothing short of fulfilling. I want to thank Phil Besner, Jean Coeur and Ryan Strauss for organizing this event, as well as Pilou and his team at Le Beam - Créatif for hosting the camp. They renovated an immense church into a multitude of recording studios where they host live sessions, recording sessions and various other production endeavours.

I rode the GoldWing down to St-Adrien, QC for a few hours. Riding those 200 kms, I was thinking about which role I wanted to take in these sessions. I always take the lead when doing my own productions. I wanted to see how I could contribute to other sessions while giving all the space that I can. I ended up supporting hip hop and alt-pop productions and I could not be happier about it.

At the end of every day, we gather together and listen to the day's songs. It's such a beautiful thing to witness - the collective energy reaches an vibrant high, everyone cheers and shows their appreciation of their peers' work.

I said it for Anti Social Producers Club and I will say it for Le Foyer, I want to do this every year. Thanks for having me, Le Foyer.
